PROCESS OF PROCEDURES FOR EXPORTING AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS TO JAPAN

Vietnam and Japan have joined the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, so Japan will immediately eliminate import duties on some key agricultural products of Vietnam including: : coffee (roasted, ground, dissolved), pepper, cashew and other spices; Certain fruits and vegetables (fresh flowers, tropical fruits, vegetables: onions, garlic, mushrooms, cucumbers), processed and canned fruits and many products will be exempt from tax after the next few years. Many commodities have been approved by the Japanese side to grant planter codes, creating favorable conditions for quarantine faster when importing. In addition, there are many growers with large areas that have reached the VietGAP standard, even granted GlobalGAP certification, which has proved that our country's agriculture is increasingly developed, methodical and worthy of exporting to difficult countries. Most charged with international standards. Typically, this year 2020 our country has businesses exporting lychee to Japan to reduce dependence on the Chinese market.

However, the quarantine system and import standards for agricultural products and foodstuffs in Japan are very strict, requiring high quality and quarantine. We need to do a good job of hygiene and hygiene in accordance with standards to avoid product recalls because of not ensuring the hygienic and safe conditions of the importing country such as the Chinsu chili sauce case in 2019.

- Inspection of instructions: The quarantine establishment will confirm whether the importing unit has well performed its responsibilities for food safety and hygiene.
- Inspection and supervision: At the quarantine establishment, goods are not subject to compulsory inspection, with the aim to understand the situation of food safety and hygiene, based on the annual plan, conduct inspection.
